In 1936, the Japanese ambassador arranged a trip to Japan for Du Bois and a compact team of academics, viewing China, Japan, and Manchukuo (Manchuria). Du Bois took a trip all-around the earth in 1936, which integrated visits to Nazi Germany, China and Japan.
