Between December 10, 2012, and January 8, 2013, the NSA collected metadata on sixty million phone calls in Spain. According to documents leaked by Snowden, the surveillance of Spanish citizens was jointly done by the NSA and the intelligence organizations of Spain. The true surveillance procedure was done by French intelligence companies on behalf of the NSA.
