By 1967, Manilow was the musical director for the WCBS-Tv sequence Callback, which premiered on January 27, 1968. He subsequent conducted and arranged for Ed Sullivan's output enterprise, arranging a new theme for The Late Show, while producing, developing, and singing his radio and tv jingles. In 1964, Manilow achieved Bro Herrod, a CBS director, who requested him to organize some songs for a musical adaptation of the melodrama The Drunkard.
