Coming as a punchline to the worst joke of Doctor Strange (Strange lists one-name superstars in a dud try to mock the librarian Wong), "Single Ladies" seems at just the proper time to battle a little bit of the film’s irritating exoticism and demonstrate that there’s far more to the humor than that. And there’s no motive to have the phrase "The Shallows" surface 2 times in just like a few inches.
