Kubrick referred to as Chapter 21 "an extra chapter" and claimed that he experienced not read through the primary variation right until he had practically completed the screenplay and that he experienced never specified serious consideration to making use of it. In Kubrick's view - as in the belief of other readers, like the authentic American editor - the ultimate chapter was unconvincing and inconsistent with the guide.
