The application of nuclear technological innovation, each as a source of energy and as an instrument of war, has been controversial. In 1961 and 1962, at the height of the Cold War, about 50,000 girls brought collectively by Women Strike for Peace marched in 60 towns in the United States to exhibit versus nuclear weapons.
