An early "pop lifestyle" reference to The Cure is discovered in the eleventh episode of BBC2's anarchic alternative comedy sequence The Young Ones, from 1984. The sequence featured typical cameo performances from British rock and pop teams of the period, such as Motörhead, the Damned, and Madness. The band Madness then performs a musical cameo.
