Luttrell, together with several different Navy SEAL veterans, acted as technical advisors in the course of the production. As well as, senior navy advisor Harry Humphries, a former Navy SEAL who had worked with Berg on Hancock and The Kingdom, served as an affiliate producer. He acted as a consultant, detailing to Berg his eyewitness account of the events that unfolded during Operation Red Wings.
