Lake Titicaca is the largest freshwater lake in South America and the highest of the world's giant lakes.
The smaller Desaguadero river drains the lake at its southern finish, and then flows south through Bolivia.

The art and textiles that originate from this island have been designated a UNESCO Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2005.
