The major character Neil is a Manic Pixie Dream Guy who aggravates everyone with his odd antics and quirks, but then Violet will come together and out-Manic-Pixies him by having the reckless and abnormal behavior to rather troubling extremes.

With his common cinematographer Claudio Miranda, he revels in symmetry to continue to keep the viewers tethered. He employs children and raises them into a lifestyle of criminal offense, however his intentions are to continue to keep them from falling target to even worse things and to educate them something that will really help them endure in Oldtown.
