Except for engines, the 1972 Torino was all-new -- and a significant disappointment. The Cobra fastback coupe remained the most-exciting of this bunch, while its normal motor was downgraded to a 285-bhp variation of the ubiquitous 351 modest-block 1st noticed for 1969. High-power and major-inch engines began disappearing at Ford and in the course of Detroit in 1972.
