In 1917 he participated in the exertion to encourage President Woodrow Wilson to approve the Balfour declaration in aid of Jewish settlement in Mandate Palestine. In 1922 Wise was 1 of the founding trustees of the Palestine Endowment Funds, Inc., together with Julian Mack. On just one facet of this square is a quite large tower, as superior as that in Seville, with a cross of great gold on the prime, a really gorgeous point to see.
