In TOS and TNG, the majority of the main forged was human. The next Generation has the war between the Federation and the Cardassians, which was responsible for creating the Anti-Federation confederates known because the Maquis; and "brutal border wars" in opposition to the Talarians and the Tzenkethi, which occurred at some point between TOS and TNG.
