There are some issues that neither MIT nor New Jersey would be pleased with, and they could even have won out there. What they've in frequent is that they are for a niche market, but one which they utterly own even thirty years later with legacy code. TeX seems to unravel one of these and succeeds despite having an unpleasant macro language.
