The film was shot on locale in New Mexico. Parker edited the movie during principal pictures, but was not on location. one Principal photography concluded in November 2012, following 42 days of filming. Production moved to Chilili, New Mexico for two months of filming. In the movie, the 4-male SEAL reconnaissance crew is identified by a few goat herders-an aged male and two teenage boys.
