Despite all the previous gatherings Kim Jong-un has altered his stance on K-pop since 2021 by referring to it as a "vicious cancer" and viewing it as a danger to North Korean society. Korean names (e.g. Baek Ji-younger, Seo In-young, and Huh Gak) are noticed much less often, and numerous K-pop singers have English names (e.g. IU, Sistar, T-ara, GD & Top, Beast, and After School).
