PETA protested at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in 2009 dressed up in Ku Klux Klan robes and handed out brochures implying the Klan and American Kennel Club have the similar aim of "pure bloodlines". PETA argued that the monkey was entitled to the copyright of a selfie picture it had taken even though dealing with Slater's digicam, and naming by themselves to be the administrator of any copyright income.
