In the late 1990s, the COPINE job ("Combating Paedophile Information Networks in Europe") at University College Cork, in cooperation with the Paedophile Unit of the London Metropolitan Police, formulated a typology to categorize boy or girl abuse photos for use in both equally investigation and regulation enforcement.
