The fourth book of Lucretius' De rerum natura offers one particular of the most prolonged passages on human sexuality in Latin literature. But with exceptionally number of exceptions, surviving Latin literature preserves the voices only of educated male Romans on the subject of sexuality. Lucretius treats male wish, feminine sexual enjoyment, heredity, and infertility as aspects of sexual physiology.
