The fourth e-book of Lucretius' De rerum natura delivers just one of the most prolonged passages on human sexuality in Latin literature. But with really number of exceptions, surviving Latin literature preserves the voices only of educated male Romans on the subject of sexuality. Lucretius treats male desire, feminine sexual enjoyment, heredity, and infertility as elements of sexual physiology.
