What would it say about our motivation to liberal ideas if people of us who really do not belong to communities in which guns have these meanings (and in fact are puzzled by them) refused to accept (or just couldn't see the two are related) that these who do belong to them understandably see quite a few forms of gun command as expressing hostility and contempt for their values?
