The initial everlasting immigration depot in New York was proven in 1855 at Castle Garden, a transformed War of 1812 era fort located inside what is now Battery Park, at the idea of Lower Manhattan. These reforms later on became law by the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, which dramatically shifted the supply of immigration from Northern and Western European countries in the direction of immigration from Latin America and Asia.
