The Indian National Congress and Gandhi termed for the British to Quit India. Gandhi's ashes were being poured into urns which were being sent throughout India for memorial services. Some of Gandhi's ashes ended up scattered at the source of the Nile River in close proximity to Jinja, Uganda, and a memorial plaque marks the event.
