Colour transmissions started off in 1972 following two yrs of examination transmissions, with all programming transmitted in colour in 1977, and color commercials starting off in 1978. TVE held a monopoly on television broadcasting right up until regional general public channels ended up launched through the 1980s and professional television started nationwide in 1990.
