My perception is that Prince, who knew a thing about getting terrible, could not have taken the proposal significantly. The defense of the strains is that Jackson was indicating, "Go forward and phone me a Jew, call me a kike." Outside of being presumptuous, the difficulty is that the expression "Jew me" has a plainly anti-Semitic indicating, which he was not productive in displacing with his individual lyric.
