A formal joint Call for Proposals on online video compression technology was issued in January 2010 by VCEG and MPEG, and proposals ended up evaluated at the first assembly of the MPEG & VCEG Joint Collaborative Team on Video Coding (JCT-VC), which took location in April 2010. A full of 27 comprehensive proposals have been submitted. The 1st performing draft specification of HEVC was manufactured at the third JCT-VC assembly in October 2010.
