A official joint Call for Proposals on movie compression engineering was issued in January 2010 by VCEG and MPEG, and proposals have been evaluated at the 1st assembly of the MPEG & VCEG Joint Collaborative Team on Video Coding (JCT-VC), which took put in April 2010. A total of 27 full proposals were submitted. The initially doing work draft specification of HEVC was generated at the third JCT-VC conference in October 2010.
