If someone else in your community can live a great life, so can you. In the end, be weary of free, don't go accepting it as fair tender for what you have to offer, and don't expect others to give away their hard work. It's all in perception and if people perceive they are getting something for free they usually will buy your item before they purchase one with even a realistic shipping cost. Some authors merely post their book and it takes off.
