Costume designer Dorothy Jeakins, who worked with DeMille on The Ten Commandments (1956), mentioned that he was skilled in humiliating individuals. He was further more nominated in the Best Picture class for The Ten Commandments at the 1957 Academy Awards. In 1954, Secretary of the Air Force Harold E. Talbott asked DeMille for assistance in designing the cadet uniforms at the recently set up United States Air Force Academy.
