Portugal's parliament in 2018 authorised a spending budget program for 2019 that contains tax breaks for returning emigrants in a bid to entice back again individuals who still left in the course of the money disaster of 2007-2008. The expansionary 2019 finances, backed by a still left-wing the vast majority in parliament, also aims to improve the purchasing ability of homes when cutting the currently small deficit even further.
