In the summer season of 1933, Gladys purchased a small home in Hollywood with a bank loan from the Home Owners' Loan Corporation and moved 7-year-aged Monroe in with her. In 1999, the American Film Institute rated her sixth on their record of the finest feminine display legends from the Golden Age of Hollywood. At the age of 15, Gladys married John Newton Baker, an abusive guy nine decades her senior.
