Luttrell, along with several different Navy SEAL veterans, acted as technical advisors during the production. As well as, senior army advisor Harry Humphries, a former Navy SEAL who had worked with Berg on Hancock and The Kingdom, served as an associate producer. He acted as a guide, detailing to Berg his eyewitness account of the occasions that unfolded throughout Operation Red Wings.
