This species is probably the biggest prey routinely hunted by purple-tails, and the mean prey size wherever jackrabbits are mainly hunted is the optimum acknowledged in general. Mean measurements of jackrabbits taken can array up to approximately 2,114 g (4.661 lb), but possibly quantitatively mostly juvenile and yearling jackrabbits are caught.
