Costume designer Dorothy Jeakins, who worked with DeMille on The Ten Commandments (1956), explained that he was experienced in humiliating people. He was additional nominated in the Best Picture class for The Ten Commandments at the 1957 Academy Awards. In 1954, Secretary of the Air Force Harold E. Talbott requested DeMille for assist in designing the cadet uniforms at the newly recognized United States Air Force Academy.
