The alt-correct motion coalesced close to and supported Trump's candidacy, owing in component to its opposition to multiculturalism and immigration. In August 2016, he appointed Steve Bannon, the government chairman of Breitbart News-described by Bannon as "the platform for the alt-correct"-as his campaign CEO. His marketing campaign was in the beginning not taken critically by political analysts, but he quickly rose to the top of opinion polls.
