Costume designer Dorothy Jeakins, who worked with DeMille on The Ten Commandments (1956), explained that he was expert in humiliating people today. He was further nominated in the Best Picture class for The Ten Commandments at the 1957 Academy Awards. In 1954, Secretary of the Air Force Harold E. Talbott requested DeMille for support in planning the cadet uniforms at the newly proven United States Air Force Academy.
