UH placed him on paid leave immediately after his arrest and then allowed him to retire in 2010. He was arrested on campus. Ranzenberger was vice president of the training school union and had been utilized at CMU because 1999. He was placed on go away and then resigned his position 21 March 2016, before his May 2016 arrest.
