On sixteen July 390 BC, a Gallic army below the leadership of tribal chieftain Brennus, fulfilled the Romans on the banks of the Allia River ten miles north of Rome. The metropolis of Rome grew from settlements about a ford on the river Tiber, a crossroads of targeted visitors and trade. This caused a problem, in that Rome came to have a massive male population but was bereft of girls.
