According to Greg Warnusz, Jefferson held regular nineteenth-century beliefs that blacks were inferior to whites in phrases of "prospective for citizenship", and he required them recolonized to impartial Liberia and other colonies. In arrangement with the Southern slave society, Tewell states Jefferson believed that slavery served to guard blacks, whom he considered as inferior or incapable of having treatment of them selves.
