The Church of the East had, like other church buildings, an ordained clergy in the a few regular orders of bishop, priest (or presbyter), and deacon. Also like other church buildings, it experienced an episcopal polity: organisation by dioceses, every single headed by a bishop and created up of a number of person parish communities overseen by clergymen.
