On sixteen July 390 BC, a Gallic army under the management of tribal chieftain Brennus, met the Romans on the financial institutions of the Allia River 10 miles north of Rome. The metropolis of Rome grew from settlements about a ford on the river Tiber, a crossroads of targeted visitors and trade. This prompted a dilemma, in that Rome arrived to have a significant male population but was bereft of females.
