With regard to social protection and veterans benefits, identical-intercourse married partners are eligible for full rewards from the Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Social Security Administration (SSA). Prior to the Supreme Court's ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges on June 26, 2015, the VA and SSA could present only restricted positive aspects to married identical-sex couples living in states where same-sex marriage was not legal.
