There was a solid left-libertarian existing in the British labour movement and the phrase "libertarian socialist" has been utilized to a number of democratic socialists, together with some well known customers of the British Labour Party. The Independent Labour Party (ILP) shaped at that time drew more on the nonconformist religious traditions in the British operating class than on Marxist concept and had a libertarian socialist pressure.
