The fourth generation of iPad was introduced on October 23, 2012, and launched on November 2. It has an Apple A6X chip, improved LTE and WiFi connectivity, and adds guidance for fingerprint recognition biometric authentication program Touch ID. Apple replaced the Touch ID fingerprint recognition biometric authentication with its facial counterpart, Face ID.
