In April 2018, malware was discovered in a number of downloadable consumer-built Minecraft skins for use with the Java Edition of the match. Unlike a normal server, only invited players can be a part of Realms servers, and these servers do not use IP addresses. Players can run their very own servers, use a web hosting service provider, or connect right to a different player's activity through Xbox Live.
