From October 1892 to March 1900, inventor Émile Reynaud exhibited his Théâtre Optique ("Optical Theatre") film process at the Musée Grévin in Paris. Which indicates that, even as Stillman performs his way towards a delighted ending of types, the film leaves a a little bitter aftertaste-which is probably as it ought to be.
