YouTube has cited the usefulness of Content ID as 1 of the factors why the site's guidelines have been modified in December 2010 to make it possible for some buyers to upload films of limitless size. In 2011, YouTube explained Content ID as "really precise in finding uploads that glimpse comparable to reference documents that are of enough size and excellent to make an effective ID File".
