On April 10, 1262, the Mongol leader Hulagu despatched through John the Hungarian a new letter to King Louis IX of France, once more supplying an alliance. It is unclear no matter whether or not King Louis in fact acquired the letter, but at some level it was transmitted to Pope Urban, who answered in a very similar way as his predecessors.
